Welcome to the College!
The Sixth Form College Farnborough is a wonderful place to work and study! The values of the College - achievement, care, development of the individual, progression - are captured in the Mission Statement:
‘to be a distinguished provider of the highest quality education, enriching the lives of all students within a lively, caring community and enabling all to develop the skills to meet the demands of a changing world with confidence.’
It is one of the top performing sixth form colleges in the country, rated as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and is committed to building upon its reputation as a centre of excellence. At Farnborough, we have one shared objective for all staff: to improve students’ achievements. We are recognised nationally for innovation in both teaching and learning. Students are engaged in their subjects by talented teachers, inspired to enjoy studying in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. The College is a founder member of the Maple Group of sixth form colleges of which I am proud to be Chair.
We like our students here, and seek to work with them to gain success. All our students are full time, 16-19 year olds. Whilst we are a large sixth form college, at Farnborough we know the importance of counting in 1s! Central to the ethos is pastoral support through a team of specialist Personal Tutors, all experienced and successful teachers.
In addition to their studies, College students participate in a range of enrichment activities. Excellent sports facilities enable College teams and individuals to compete at county and national level; there is a rich tradition of performing arts based at the Prospect Theatre, with strong music, dance and drama. The Student Association committee oversees a large number of clubs and societies, providing an important opportunity for leadership and team-work.
We are an ambitious college, with high aspirations for students and ourselves. I am proud to be the Principal of an establishment which inspires and challenges young people. It is our hope that the College provides a big space in which our students can grow tall; a place in which the ordinary can become extraordinary.
