26 Students from the College receive offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge University
Students from The Sixth Form College Farnborough are delighted to have received offers to study a diverse range of subjects at Oxford and Cambridge University in 2013. 26 students, well above the national average, recently received offers from 23 different colleges at the prestigious world renowned institutions.
Simon Jarvis, College Principal said “We are delighted that the hard work of the students, supported by their teachers and tutors at the College, has culminated in the opportunity to study at Oxford or Cambridge University. The College is proud of the number of students who year on year have taken this route.”
Paige Gibbons, who received an offer to study Philosophy and Linguistics at Brasenose College, Oxford, said “Getting the acceptance letter was so exciting and made the 3 admissions tests and 5 interviews so worth it. I was so surprised to get an offer but obviously so pleased! But the hard work starts now to make sure I actually achieve the grades needed to get in.”
Diana Hartley who is Paige’s Tutor at the College commented “Paige is bright, friendly and hardworking, she has a quiet determination and a positive attitude to her studies; she is a delight to teach. Paige is a competitive Latin and Ballroom dancer; she competes regularly in National Competitions and rehearses daily on top of all of her college work. I am so pleased but not surprised that Oxford University have recognised her strengths and her potential too. I wish her all the best for the remainder of her A Level studies and I am sure she will flourish at university.”
